Now my story about my first AS Sweet concert on the 1st of August in 2009.
I was reading that Sweet should play not far from our village. I bought tickets. This was my chance to see Andy and all the others live. I had to wait some weeks, but that was ok. ;)
The 1st of August approached... It was a beautiful, warm summer's day. The gig should started at 21.30 p.m.We had to take my brother's car, because my dad had a little breakdown... Anyway... We arrived at 6 p.m. The woman who sold tickets said, the entry would be behind schedule...
My dad was hungry, so we took a seat next to a sandwich bar. I had no appetite. (always the same when I visit concerts) A man told us, Sweet would't arrive on shedule. Oh my! A while later... the same man said, many people would stand in a line. OH NO!!!
We walked to the entry. I thought, 200 people would wait there, but maybe 20 were waiting, Thank God! The man was telling bollocks... But I was happy nevertheless, because I was one of the first people now. The security guards opened the doors at 7.30 p.m. We got a stamp and ran to the stage.
I couldn't believe my eyes! I saw them. Andy, Pete, Bruce and Steve. I said „Oh my God" to myself. Suddenly I lost my tension. But Sweet left the stage, because 2 DJ's made music until 9 p.m. The played songs by Racey, Rubettes, CCR, Hello and so on.
The moderator said some sentences and announced the „best band of the 70s". They came on stage again and started the gig with Hell Raiser. Aww it was great!!! They played all their biggest hits: Funny Funny/ Co-Co/ Poppa Joe, The Six Teens, Wig-Wam Bam, Little Willy, Blockbuster, Action, Teenage Rampage, Fox On The Run, Love Is Like Oxygen, even Burn On The FlameandNo You Don't. And finally Ballroom Blitz for good measure.
